Noble Yeats, the celebrated winner of the 2022 Grand National, has died at the age of 11 following a battle with colic.
The 50-1 longshot secured victory in the 2022 Grand National, marking the final race of amateur jockey Sam Waley-Cohen’s career.
“He provided us with an unforgettable day and realized our aspirations,” Waley-Cohen stated.
“He was a remarkable horse for us and truly one of a kind.”
Owner Robert Waley-Cohen, who acquired Noble Yeats just two months prior to the Grand National triumph, commented: “He exhibited signs of distress on Wednesday, prompting immediate veterinary attention. Despite round-the-clock care and efforts to aid his recovery, his condition unfortunately deteriorated.
“It was a deeply saddening moment.
“He was enjoying retirement in the field alongside Long Run [2011 Gold Cup winner] and Oscar Time [2011 Grand National runner-up].”
