Hansi Flick previously secured two Bundesliga titles as the manager of Bayern Munich before his transition to Barcelona.
Barcelona’s manager, Hansi Flick, expressed his gratitude to the team and supporters for their unwavering support during Sunday’s El Clasico against Real Madrid, a match he oversaw despite the bereavement of his father.
Barcelona secured the La Liga title with a decisive 2-0 victory over their rivals at a packed Camp Nou.
Prior to the match, a minute of silence was observed in remembrance of Flick’s father, and players wore black armbands as a sign of respect throughout the game.
“This morning, my mother called me with the news of my father’s passing. I contemplated whether to keep it private or share it with the team,” Flick stated.
“To me, they are like family, and I felt it was important to inform the players.”
“Their response was truly remarkable. I will forever cherish this moment.”
Marcus Rashford, the Barcelona and England forward who scored the team’s opening goal, commended Flick’s resilience.
“He demonstrated immense character by remaining with the team during an incredibly difficult time,” Rashford conveyed to BBC Sport.
“It was crucial that we gave our all on the pitch, recognizing that he makes such challenging decisions on a daily basis.”
“I extend my best wishes to him and his family.”

Since succeeding Xavi in May 2024, the former Bayern Munich and Germany manager has accumulated five trophies with Barcelona.
“It was a demanding match, and I will never forget this day,” Flick expressed emotionally to the crowd afterward.
“I wish to express my gratitude to the squad and all those who have supported us. Most importantly, I am immensely proud to have such a capable team.”
“Thank you for everything. I believe we now have cause to celebrate.”
Barcelona officially announced the passing of Flick’s father on Sunday afternoon, shortly before the match, stating: “We share in your sorrow, and our thoughts are with you and your family during this trying time.”
Real Madrid, their fierce rivals, issued a statement expressing: “Real Madrid, its president, and its directors deeply regret the passing of Hansi Flick’s father.
“Real Madrid wishes to convey its condolences and affection to his family and loved ones. May he rest in peace.”
