Reports in Swiss media indicate that Formula 1 legend Alain Prost sustained a head injury during a home invasion by a masked gang.

According to Blick, external, the incident occurred at Prost’s residence in Nyon, approximately 25km north of Geneva.

Police have confirmed that a family was targeted by robbers around 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, though the victims’ identities have not been officially disclosed.

In a statement, the Vaud cantonal police force stated, “Several masked individuals entered the house. Once inside, they threatened the occupants and slightly injured one family member in the head, under circumstances that are still being investigated.”

“The perpetrators then forced another family member to open a safe before fleeing,” the statement added.

The value of the stolen items is currently being assessed.

Police further noted that a “large-scale search operation” was initiated, involving Swiss and French police forces, as well as border security. Psychological support has been provided to the family.

Prost, 71, competed for McLaren, Renault, Ferrari, and Williams throughout his 13-year Formula 1 career, securing world titles in 1985, 1986, 1989, and 1993.

Only Michael Schumacher, Lewis Hamilton (both with seven titles), and Juan Manuel Fangio (with five) have surpassed Prost’s championship record.
