Uzbekistan and China will implement a visa-free regime starting June 1st. This allows for visa-free travel for up to 30 days; stays exceeding this period will require a visa. Importantly, this visa waiver does not extend to work, study, or media-related activities.
The Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the completion of domestic procedures for the entry into force of the intergovernmental agreement between Uzbekistan and China on the mutual abolition of visas. The document was signed in Chengdu on December 1st, 2024.
The agreement will enter into force on June 1st, 2025. According to the document, citizens of both countries are exempt from visa requirements for entry, exit, or transit through the territories of both states for a period not exceeding 30 days for each individual stay and a total period not exceeding 90 days within any 180-day period.
Each entry and stay in the territories of both states must not exceed 30 days. If a stay longer than 30 days is required, an entry visa must be obtained in advance.
The visa-free regime does not apply to employment, studies, media activities, or other activities requiring prior approval from the competent authorities of either country. Furthermore, the agreement does not extend to visits to the special administrative regions of the PRC, Hong Kong and Macau.
