Inquest Hears Actor William Rush Was Found Unconscious

William Rush, known for his role in “Waterloo Road,” passed away at the age of 31, days after being discovered unconscious at his residence by his partner, according to reports from an inquest.

Rush, who portrayed schoolboy Josh Stevenson in the BBC One drama, died on December 17th at Salford Royal Hospital.

During the inquest opening at Bolton Coroner’s Court on Tuesday, a witness statement from senior police coroner’s officer Marcheta Hogan indicated that the circumstances surrounding Rush’s death were not deemed suspicious.

Born in Bury, Rush appeared in 168 episodes of “Waterloo Road” between 2009 and 2013. Earlier in his career, he featured in “Grange Hill” and “Shameless,” later securing roles in “Casualty” and “Vera.”

Following his passing, his mother, Debbie Rush, a former “Coronation Street” actress, conveyed the family’s profound grief, stating that their “hearts were completely broken.”

The actress, known for her decade-long portrayal of Anna Windass in “Coronation Street,” remembered William as “our beautiful baby boy.”

“There are no words that can truly capture the depth of our loss,” she expressed.

She also honored her son’s decision to become an organ donor prior to his death.

“Even in our darkest moment, William gave the most precious gift of all,” she stated.

“His kindness and love will forever be part of his legacy.”

Rush, a resident of Rochdale, auditioned for the ITV talent show “The X Factor” in 2016, progressing to the “six-chair challenge,” a stage between boot camp and judges’ houses.
