I’m A Celebrity 2023: Meet the Contestants

Television personality Jack Osbourne, comedian Ruby Wax, and model/presenter Kelly Brook are among the celebrities set to enter the Australian jungle in the upcoming season of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!

Adding to the star-studded cast are former Lioness Alex Scott, Emmerdale actress Lisa Riley, and Spandau Ballet bassist Martin Kemp.

Rounding out the lineup are rapper Aitch, social media personality Morgan Burtwistle (known as Angryginge), EastEnders actress Shona McCarty, and comedian Eddie Kadi.

The official cast reveal comes just days before the 25th series premiere on Sunday at 9:00 PM.

Brook, a model and radio host for Heart, has reportedly declined previous invitations but now feels ready, citing recent challenges like running the London Marathon and participating in the BBC’s Celebrity Race Across the World.

However, unlike Race Across the World, she’ll be tackling the jungle experience solo, without her husband, Jeremy Parisi.

“On Race Across the World, I had Jeremy, who was really the driving force behind it. He kept me going, and not having his support is going to be difficult,” Brook stated.

“I will have to do this on my own two feet. It’s the longest we will have been apart, but we are seeing it as a hiatus from married life!”

Like many contestants, she anticipates the eating trials with trepidation, joking, “I have got to see it as good protein.”

U.S. comedian Ruby Wax confidently asserted she has no fears ahead of her jungle adventure.

Known for her hit 90s BBC show, When Ruby Wax Met…, she interviewed numerous celebrities, including Pamela Anderson, Sarah Ferguson, and former U.S. President Donald Trump.

Wax expressed her enthusiasm: “I am most looking forward to mingling and finding out about everyone. I do it naturally.”

“I won’t be interviewing, because I hope they ask me questions. There is nothing more boring than someone who doesn’t ask you anything!”

She added that she wants to “show people I’m not aggressive. I was stereotyped during my career.”

Spandau Ballet’s Martin Kemp follows in the footsteps of his son, Roman Kemp, who participated in I’m A Celebrity in 2019, finishing third.

Explaining his decision to join the show despite prior DJ commitments, the pop icon shared, “I’ve had to cancel some jobs, but when Roman was on I’m A Celebrity…, I was addicted.”

“I watched it every day and enjoyed it so much. I felt it was now time in my life for an adventure.”

He anticipates being a calming presence in camp: “I’m a calm person and I am quite laid back so when people do get flustered or are missing home, I will be a good person to come to.”

However, fellow contestants should be prepared, as Kemp admitted he is a snorer.

Jack Osbourne enters the jungle with the support of his mother, Sharon, and sister, Kelly.

He shared that they will be watching and hope the experience helps him cope following the recent passing of his father, Ozzy Osbourne.

Given his history hosting Adrenaline Junkie, expectations are high for Osbourne in the trials, particularly the physical challenges.

“Heights do not bother me at all, because I have been climbing for years and I’ve done some pretty sizable routes – so it’s not a problem for me. But I’m not really great with bugs.”

Manchester-based rapper Aitch, whose real name is Harrison Armstrong, is a long-time fan of the show.

“On a personal Harrison level, this show is something I grew up watching in our house. It would almost be disrespectful to say ‘no’. Why would I not do it?” he explained.

He also revealed another significant reason for his participation.

Aitch’s sister, Grace, has Down’s Syndrome, and he previously released a song dedicated to her, titled My G.

“On an Aitch level, I feel like I have got this calling to raise awareness for Down’s syndrome and I feel that’s the perfect place.”

Former professional footballer and current pundit Alex Scott believes her athletic background will serve her well in the show’s notorious trials.

“At first, I kept overthinking about what everybody else would think, but this is an amazing opportunity to test myself,” she admitted. “I am super competitive – but with myself and not other people.”

She anticipates her biggest challenge will be overcoming her shyness.

Scott shared that beyond her family and partner, singer Jess Glynne, she will miss her “hair stuff, custard creams and bourbons,” adding, “I love a cup of tea with a biscuit.”

Content creator Morgan Burtwistle, also known as Angryginge, with over three million followers on social media, expressed concern about being disconnected from his devices.

He said: “My whole life is spent on the phone. I’ve been away once for a week. And so, two to three weeks without it is going to be very educational to see how I will do!”

Angryginge confessed that his campmates should hope he’s not assigned cooking duties, as he is unable to cook.

“If I am the chef, they are going to be in big trouble!”

Shona McGarty is best known for her role as Whitney Dean in EastEnders.

She anticipates missing something unusual while in the jungle.

“I wear headphones at night and I listen to serial killer documentaries. I don’t know what that says about me, but it helps me to sleep randomly. Someone will have to tell me a scary story to get to sleep!” she joked.

McGarty is looking forward to viewers seeing a different side of her beyond her EastEnders character.

“Everyone expects me to wear massive gold hoop earrings and have a ponytail whilst eating chicken nuggets! But I am nothing like that. I’m looking forward to using this experience to be completely myself, which nobody has seen.”

BBC Radio 1Xtra presenter Eddie Kadi shared that he has been practicing intermittent fasting in preparation for the jungle’s strict diet.

“I have never camped outside before either and the closest thing I have come to this is a walk in Kew Gardens!” he said.

This isn’t his first foray into reality television, although it promises to be significantly different from his experience on Strictly Come Dancing two years prior.

In 2020, he made history as the first black British comedian to headline the O2 arena.

Emmerdale star Lisa Riley is also a Strictly Come Dancing veteran, having participated in 2012.

Now she’s dancing into the jungle.

The soap star said: “They have asked me to be in it numerous times before – but now I’ve finally said ‘yes’.”

“The reason is I’m going to be 50 next year, it’s thirty years on and off playing Mandy Dingle in Emmerdale and ten years of being sober. It’s like a big baguette where everything I wanted was in it.”

However, Riley may struggle to avoid all of her worst fears.

Riley revealed: “I’m petrified of rats, confined spaces and the dark.”
