An Uzbek citizen in Turkey has allegedly murdered his wife due to jealousy, according to a statement from the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul.
The incident occurred on August 17 in the Ümraniye district of Istanbul. N.S., a 35-year-old Uzbek citizen from the Samarkand region who had come to Turkey for temporary work, was allegedly stabbed to death by her husband, U.S., also an Uzbek citizen. Reports indicate that the alleged motive was jealousy.
Following search operations, Istanbul police apprehended the suspect on the morning of August 18 in the Ümraniye district. Additionally, another Uzbek citizen, B.O., was detained on suspicion of assisting the alleged perpetrator in concealing evidence.
On August 19, a court ordered the pre-trial detention of both suspects. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
Necessary documentation is being processed to repatriate the deceased’s body to Uzbekistan. The Agency for External Labor Migration under the Cabinet of Ministers is providing the required assistance in this matter, as stated by the Consulate General.
