Uzbekistan Appoints First-Ever Ambassador to Fiji

Mukhsinkhodja Abdurakhmanov, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan residing in Tokyo, has presented his credentials to the President of Fiji, Ratu Wiliame Maivalili Katonivere, as reported by Dunyo News Agency.

The solemn ceremony included an honor guard and the playing of the Uzbek national anthem. Notably, the flag of Uzbekistan was raised for the first time in Fijian history.

During the meeting that followed the ceremony, discussions were held regarding the current state of relations between Uzbekistan and Fiji across various sectors, including political, trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian, educational, and tourism. Prospects for future collaboration were also explored.

The President of Fiji acknowledged the friendly relations between the two nations, emphasizing that these ties are built upon mutual respect, constructive dialogue, and shared values, despite the geographical distance separating them.

The Head of State underscored Uzbekistan’s strategic importance, citing its rich natural resources and substantial human capital. He commended the proactive and constructive foreign policy pursued by the Uzbek President, aimed at fostering peace and sustainable development in the region.

Furthermore, the appointment of Uzbekistan’s first ambassador to Fiji was recognized as a significant historical milestone in the diplomatic relations between the two countries. The Fijian side expressed particular gratitude to the President of Uzbekistan for his dedication to strengthening bilateral and multilateral ties with Fiji.

In closing, the President of Fiji conveyed his deep respect and sincere greetings to the Head of State of Uzbekistan, along with his wishes for peace and prosperity for the Uzbek people.

Uzbekistan and Fiji established diplomatic relations on June 16, 2010. Mukhsinkhuja Abdurakhmanov has also served as the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Japan since 2021.
