Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, and Kendrick Lamar lead the nominations for the forthcoming MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs).
Sabrina Carpenter and Ariana Grande are also among the top nominated artists for the 2025 US award show.
Beyoncé and Taylor Swift, who are currently tied for the most VMA wins with 30 each, have both received a single nomination this year, both in the artist of the year category.
While neither artist released an album in the past year, both have notably undertaken highly successful, record-breaking tours during that period.
Swift currently holds the record for most Moonman trophies for a single artist, as Beyoncé’s total includes collaborative projects.
Notably, Swift was the biggest winner at last year’s ceremony, securing seven awards, including the coveted artist and video of the year titles.
This year, Lady Gaga leads with 12 nominations, followed by Bruno Mars with 11, Kendrick Lamar with 10, and Sabrina Carpenter with eight.
Lady Gaga’s nominations include artist of the year and best album for *Mayhem*. The artist is currently engaged in a US tour.
Die With A Smile, a collaboration between Lady Gaga and Mars, has earned a nomination for song of the year, with the musicians also contending for best collaboration, best pop, and video of the year.
This year’s VMAs will introduce two new categories: best country and best pop artist.
The awards show is scheduled to take place on September 7th at New York’s UBS Arena.
Plans for this year’s MTV Europe Music Awards remain unconfirmed, with reports suggesting the show is currently on hiatus.
