Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Hold Meeting in Turkmenistan

Upon arrival in Turkmenbashi, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. This was reported by the President’s press service.

At the beginning of the conversation, the head of our state sincerely congratulated Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the high-level hosting of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, emphasizing the vital importance of the issues included in its agenda for the sustainable development of our region.

Topical issues of further strengthening Uzbek-Turkmen relations of good neighborliness and strategic partnership were considered in the context of the implementation of agreements reached at the meeting in Samarkand in April of this year.

The growing dynamics of multifaceted cooperation, based on the principles of friendship, mutual trust and consideration of common interests, was noted with deep satisfaction.

Fruitful and active contacts continue at all levels. Since the beginning of the year, trade turnover has amounted to $600 million. Cooperation is deepening in the fields of industry, energy, transport, agriculture and water management, and other sectors of the economy.

The “Shavat-Dashoguz” border trade zone is being jointly created, and active interregional contacts and humanitarian exchanges are continuing.

As part of the preparation for the upcoming high-level meetings, it is planned to hold meetings of intergovernmental commissions, the Business Council, the Forum of Regions, and a number of cultural events.

There was also a thorough exchange of views on the agenda of the UN Conference and the seventh Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia, scheduled for this autumn in Tashkent.
