Muhammad Anis, an Indian student at Tashkent State Medical University, is being lauded for saving the life of a 48-year-old woman aboard a flight from Tashkent to Delhi. Mathrubhumi News reports on the incident.
The event unfolded on July 29 when a passenger suddenly fell ill mid-flight. Upon the crew’s call for medical assistance, Muhammad Anis, a student at Tashkent State Medical University, promptly responded.
According to Anis, he immediately offered his help upon hearing the announcement. After examining the passenger, he diagnosed her with an episode of tachycardia—a rapid heart rate—triggered by panic and anxiety. Despite the limited resources available on the aircraft, Anis remained composed and administered a carotid sinus massage, a technique used to help restore a normal heart rhythm. The woman’s condition began to improve within 10–15 seconds, according to reports.
“I am not yet a doctor, but I am studying to become one. In such situations, it is important not to panic. The key is to know how to act,” Anis stated.
Upon arrival at Delhi’s international airport, the patient was met by medical professionals. Thanks to the timely intervention of the aspiring doctor, a potentially life-threatening situation was averted.
“Muhammad Anis is studying at one of Uzbekistan’s prestigious medical faculties, where hundreds of international students are trained. His actions have once again demonstrated the importance of high-quality training and first aid skills,” the report noted.
