Uzbekistan Ranks 25th Safest Country Globally

Uzbekistan has been ranked 25th out of 148 countries in the international safety index for the first half of 2025. The ranking was compiled by Numbeo, a website that calculates crime and safety indices based on user-submitted surveys regarding perceived levels of safety during the day and night, as well as concerns about becoming a victim of theft or assault.

The indices range from 0 to 100, with lower crime index scores indicating greater safety. Uzbekistan’s crime index stands at 26.6, which is classified as a low level.

In the first half of 2025, Uzbekistan emerged as the safest country in Central Asia, boasting a safety index of 73.4. Kazakhstan was positioned at 73rd place with an index of 54.4, while Kyrgyzstan ranked 101st with an index of 48. Turkmenistan and Tajikistan were not included in the rankings.

Haiti leads the list of countries with the highest crime rates. The top five also includes Papua New Guinea (80.7), Venezuela (80.5), Afghanistan (75.2), and South Africa (74.6). Russia and Ukraine were placed at 52nd and 81st, respectively.

The safest countries are recognized as the UAE, Andorra, and Qatar.

For comparison, in the first half of 2024, Uzbekistan held the 27th position with a safety index of 71.
