The wait is over for legions of K-pop enthusiasts: BTS has officially announced their return. The South Korean sensation confirmed their highly anticipated comeback on Tuesday, unveiling plans for a new album and a global tour slated for next year.
In a live stream marking their first appearance since all members completed their mandatory military service, the septet revealed they will be heading to the US later this month to commence work on fresh material.
“Hey guys, we are back,” Jimin announced, with the group sharing that their forthcoming album is scheduled for release in spring 2026.
“We’re also planning a world tour alongside the album. We’ll be visiting fans all around the world, so we hope you’re as excited as we are,” the band elaborated.
This will mark BTS’s first world tour since their “Permission to Dance on Stage” performances back in 2022.
The new album will also be the band’s first full-length release since 2020.
As all South Korean men are required to complete 18 months of military service, the world’s leading boy band was compelled to put their careers on hold at the height of their global success in 2022.
According to an official statement, the band shared with fans on the Weverse platform, “Starting in July, all seven of us will begin working closely together on new music.”
“Since it will be a group album, it will reflect each member’s thoughts and ideas. We’re approaching the album with the same mindset we had when we first started.”
Fans, known collectively as ARMY, have eagerly anticipated the group’s reunion following their enforced hiatus.
