BAKU /Trend/ – On June 23, following an Israeli strike on Tehran, General Mohammad Taghi Yousefvand, commander of the Basij Organization’s security unit, was killed.
This was reported Tuesday by Trend, citing the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) headquarters in Lorestan.
According to reports, the Iranian general perished in the aftermath of Israeli airstrikes targeting several Tehran districts.
Earlier, on June 13, Israel launched airstrikes on Iran, resulting in significant military casualties. Among the deceased were Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Mohammad Bagheri, IRGC Commander-in-Chief Hossein Salami, two commanders of the Khatam al-Anbiya headquarters – Gholamali Rashid and Ali Shadmani, IRGC Air Force Commander Amir Ali Hajizadeh, nine nuclear scientists, and other personnel.
In retaliation, Iran launched over 150 ballistic missiles and 100 drones at Tel Aviv and other Israeli areas, causing civilian casualties and substantial damage.
On June 22, the US Air Force conducted strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, reportedly destroying them.
“We have concluded our highly successful attack on three nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan. All aircraft are now outside Iranian airspace. Full bomb payload was dropped on the primary Fordo facility. All aircraft are returning home safely,” US President Donald Trump posted on social media.
On the evening of June 23, Iran launched airstrikes on a US military base in Qatar.
On June 24, a ceasefire was announced, brokered by US President Donald Trump.
The Supreme National Security Council of Iran also issued a statement confirming the cessation of hostilities.
