Uzbekistan to Buy 200 Electric Buses from China

On June 20, Deputy Minister of Transport Ilkhomjon Abdugafforov met with a delegation led by the Chairman of the Board of the Export-Import Bank of China, Chen Huaiyu, the Ministry of Transport reports.

The meeting involved an exchange of views on ongoing reforms and prospective projects for developing the nation’s transport infrastructure and modernizing rolling stock with the bank’s financial support.

Specifically, discussions covered aspects related to financing projects for the construction of toll roads between Tashkent-Samarkand and Tashkent-Andijan, a separate high-speed passenger railway along the Tashkent-Samarkand route, and projects for procuring modern buses to enhance public transport systems in Tashkent and other regions, improving services for the population.

The parties discussed expediting the agreement and signing of a loan agreement between Uzpromstroybank and the Export-Import Bank of China for the purchase of 200 electric buses, as well as a prospective project to acquire an additional 1,000 buses.
