Rod Stewart Cancels US Tour Dates Before Glastonbury

Sir Rod Stewart has postponed several US concerts due to illness, as he recovers from the flu. This comes ahead of his highly anticipated Glastonbury Legends slot later this month.

The 80-year-old music icon is scheduled to perform the coveted Sunday afternoon set on June 29th—a return to the Somerset festival after a 23-year absence.

Sir Rod announced on Instagram the cancellation of four shows and the rescheduling of two others, originally planned for the following week.

He expressed his apologies to fans, stating, “So sorry my friends. I’m devastated and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. I’ll be back on stage and will see you soon.” He signed off with “Sir Rod” and a broken heart emoji.

The affected shows include four cancellations in Las Vegas and Stateline, Nevada, and two rescheduled performances in California.

Sir Rod previously indicated his intention to scale back to smaller venues after 2025, transitioning away from large-scale tours.

However, he enthusiastically confirmed his Glastonbury appearance, stating his readiness to perform for the festival. He was the first act confirmed for this year’s festival.

He revealed on the That Peter Crouch Podcast that his Pyramid Stage set is planned for an hour and fifteen minutes, although he hopes to extend it.

He also confirmed he’ll share the stage with his former Faces bandmate Ronnie Wood.

Sir Rod’s most recent major performance was at the American Music Awards (AMAs) on May 26th in Las Vegas, where he received a lifetime achievement award presented by his children.

The father-of-eight was visibly moved by the presentation, performing his 1988 hit “Forever Young” afterwards.

Known for iconic hits like “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?”, “Every Beat Of My Heart”, and “Maggie May”, Sir Rod is one of the best-selling artists of all time.

He follows in the footsteps of Dolly Parton, Barry Gibb, Shania Twain, and Kylie Minogue in securing the prestigious Sunday afternoon Glastonbury slot.

This highly sought-after time slot always draws massive crowds. Sir Rod will be the first artist to receive both Legends billing and headline the festival, having previously appeared in 2002.
