Emergency Ministry Denies Reports of Strong Earthquake Caused by Geomagnetic Storm

The Ministry of Emergency Situations (source) has refuted online reports claiming a strong magnetic storm will increase the risk of a magnitude 7+ earthquake within 48 hours in an eastern hemisphere seismic region.

“Seismic activity is unrelated to magnetic storms. Precise earthquake prediction regarding time and location is impossible,” the ministry stated.

Data from the Ministry’s Seismological Monitoring Center shows no anomalous activity in Uzbekistan suggesting a significant earthquake.

The Ministry urges citizens to disregard the misinformation and avoid panic.

Climatologist Erkin Abdulakhatov (source) reportedly suggests scientific evidence linking powerful earthquakes (magnitude 7+) in the eastern hemisphere to strong (6-8) magnetic storms 48 hours prior. While not universally consistent, this correlation has been observed in numerous instances.

This is attributed to the frequent occurrence of such magnetic storms preceding major earthquakes in Eurasian and Oceanian seismic zones.

It’s important to note that a highly accurate method for predicting earthquakes remains elusive globally.
