Daniel Dubois overcame two early knockdowns, including one within the first 10 seconds, to defeat a valiant but bloodied Fabio Wardley in the 11th round of a captivating heavyweight bout, securing his status as a two-time world champion.
Wardley initially floored his British counterpart with a clean right hand and repeated the feat in the third round. However, Dubois demonstrated resilience, recovering to unleash a relentless barrage of powerful blows.
The Ipswich native, visibly compromised with a broken nose and a severely swollen eye, exhibited remarkable toughness, remaining upright and continuing to trade punches despite his injuries.
As the fight progressed into a grueling stage, the referee ultimately deemed Wardley unable to continue, bringing the contest to a halt. A devastated Wardley kneeled in defeat as Dubois celebrated his victory and the acquisition of the WBO heavyweight title.
