Netflix Greenlights Sequel to K-Pop Demon Hunters

Netflix has formally announced a sequel to *KPop Demon Hunters*, its most-watched film to date, signaling continued investment in globally appealing content.

The upcoming sequel will be the inaugural project under the newly established multi-year collaboration between co-directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans and the streaming giant.

This announcement arrives amid significant anticipation, as critics predict the original film may triumph at the Academy Awards this Sunday, where it has garnered nominations for both Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song.

Notably, the film’s track, “Golden,” previously secured a Grammy Award for Best Song Written for Visual Media, marking a historic win for K-Pop within the prestigious music awards.

The Sony Pictures production centers on Huntr/x, a K-pop girl group navigating the complexities of fame while secretly battling demons.

In a statement released via Netflix’s social media channels, Director Kang expressed, “As a Korean filmmaker, I am deeply honored that audiences are eager to experience more of this Korean narrative and its characters.”

“The world we’ve crafted has much more to offer, and I am thrilled to share it. This is just the beginning.”

The case relates to cancelled flights during the pandemic, for which customers were given credits instead of cash.
