Gabriel is part of an Arsenal defence that has conceded just five goals in the Premier League this season
Brazil’s manager, Carlo Ancelotti, has stated that Gabriel will undergo evaluation on Sunday following a groin injury sustained during their friendly victory against Senegal in London.
The 27-year-old defender signaled discomfort off the ball just before the hour mark, receiving treatment on his right thigh before being substituted.
Gabriel has been a pivotal figure in Arsenal’s defensive line, contributing to their Premier League-leading position, with only five goals conceded in 11 league fixtures.
Arsenal are scheduled to face North London rivals Tottenham on November 23, followed by a Champions League encounter against Bayern Munich the subsequent Wednesday.
“It’s difficult to say the extent. He felt a pain in his adductor,” Ancelotti commented. “The medical team will assess him tomorrow.”
“We express our sincere concern and disappointment. When a player suffers an injury, our hope is for a swift and complete recovery.”
Brazil secured a 2-0 win over Senegal at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium, with goals from Chelsea’s young winger Estevao and Manchester United midfielder Casemiro.
In related news, Italy’s head coach, Gennaro Gattuso, has confirmed that Arsenal defender Riccardo Calafiori has departed from the national team camp.
Calafiori did not participate in Italy’s World Cup qualifying match against Moldova on Thursday, having been placed on an individual training regimen for load management.
“We assessed Calafiori, and he presented some issues,” Gattuso stated to Sky Sports Italia, external prior to Italy’s game against Norway on Sunday.
“I appreciate his commitment. He remained here for a week, and while he might have been able to play, it wouldn’t have been fair to him or Arsenal.”
Sources have indicated to BBC Sport that Calafiori has not returned to Arsenal for medical treatment.
