Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn face off for the last time before fight

Chris Eubank Jr has promised a “fight of the decade contender” in his rematch with Conor Benn on Saturday.

The rivals engaged in a tense final face-off at Friday’s ceremonial weigh-in at York Hall in Bethnal Green.

Eubank Jr appeared emotionless, while Benn, who admitted he was too fiery when he lost their first fight in April, looked more charged.

“Everything is on track for a Chris Eubank Jr knockout win,” Eubank Jr stated.

“This is what I love to do, this is my life. I’m not excited, this is what I was bred to do. I can’t wait to go out there and show the world yet again.

“The first fight was a fight of the year contender. This fight will be a fight of the decade contender.”

After being the focus of attention at Thursday’s news conference, Chris Eubank Sr and Nigel Benn were absent from the weigh-in stage.

The boxers officially weighed in on Friday morning behind closed doors, with both hitting 11st 5lb (72kg).

Despite the ceremonial nature of the weigh-in, the scales were activated, and Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn announced Benn at 11st 13lb (76kg), with Eubank Jr two pounds lighter.

Both fighters are subject to a rehydration clause, preventing them from exceeding 12st 1lb (77kg) on Saturday morning.

There have been reports of slow ticket sales for the rematch at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, suggesting a potential lack of enthusiasm for another Eubank Jr-Benn encounter.

However, this was the first event of fight week open to the public, drawing a standing-room-only crowd with queues stretching around the block.

Eubank Jr attempted to seize control of the proceedings before fight night by making Benn wait several minutes before their stage announcement.

Both fighters received a warm welcome and cheers upon their eventual arrival.

The lead-up to this bout has been less dramatic than earlier in the year, when Eubank Jr slapped Benn with an egg at a news conference and exceeded the weight limit by 0.05lb the day before the fight.

While hostility remains, the mutual respect gained after a bruising contest appears to have prevented any further escalations.

“I’m excited to get in there and do the business,” Benn stated.

“It’s a blessing. I’m a welterweight but I want to come in heavy. I’m not concerned about what Chris does.

“Do not miss it. Make sure you tune in. Redemption is all that matters.”

Similar to their April fight, both Eubank Jr and Benn must adhere to a rehydration clause, limiting their weight gain to 10lb between Friday’s weigh-in and Saturday morning.

Benn’s team believes the rehydration clause ensures a more level playing field.

The weight disparity, with Benn moving up two divisions for this contest, has been a significant talking point in the lead-up to both fights.

In April, Eubank Jr missed the middleweight limit of 11st 6lb by 0.05lb at the weigh-in but comfortably stayed below the rehydration limit the following day.

Fighters typically shed fat during their training camp to approach the agreed or stipulated weight limit.

Prior to the weigh-in, usually held the day before the fight, they may dehydrate to lose the final bit of weight.

Losing water weight close to the fight allows for easier refueling with food and water.

Eubank Jr has stated that he typically gains about 14lb after a weigh-in.
