Great Britain Secures Two Additional World Championship Gold Medals on Final Day

Elizabeth Jordan and pilot Dannielle Khan secured the women’s B sprint world title in dominant fashion, winning every race.

Great Britain concluded the Para-cycling Track World Championships in Rio de Janeiro with two additional gold medals.

Elizabeth Jordan and pilot Dannielle Khan triumphed in the women’s B sprint gold medal race, defeating Australia’s Jess Gallagher and Jacquie Mengler-Mohr. Sophie Unwin and Jenny Holl secured the bronze medal in the same event.

Echoing Jordan and Khan’s success, James Ball and pilot Steffan Lloyd also claimed their second gold medal of the championship, prevailing over Australian competitors Kane Perris and Luke Zaccaria in the men’s B sprint final.

A narrow margin of just two-hundredths of a second denied Great Britain a third gold in Sunday’s final event, with Kadeena Cox, Finlay Graham, and Jody Cundy securing silver behind Australia in the mixed C1-5 750m team sprint.

This silver medal brought Graham’s total medal count in Brazil to five, following his earlier silver in the men’s C3 10km scratch race.

Archie Atkinson also added to the medal tally with a silver, finishing closely behind Frenchman Gatien Le Rousseau in the men’s C4 elimination race, marking his third medal of the competition.

These achievements ensured that the British team, who previously led the para-cycling track program at the Paralympic Games in Paris last year, finished second in the medal table, trailing only Australia.
