Perry run out at non-strikers end after stepping out of her crease
The Hundred women’s competition, Headingley
Birmingham Phoenix 116-6 (100 balls): Arlott 32* (25); Smith 2-18
Northern Superchargers 117-2 (74 balls): Litchfield 59* (28); Arlott 1-19
Superchargers win by eight wickets
Phoebe Litchfield’s explosive, unbeaten 59 off 28 deliveries propelled Northern Superchargers to a commanding eight-wicket victory over Birmingham Phoenix in The Hundred, achieved with a significant 26 balls to spare.
Birmingham Phoenix, having won the toss and elected to bat at Headingley, initially appeared poised to establish a competitive total at 44-1 after 30 balls.
However, a series of imprudent shot selections led to a collapse, with the Phoenix losing five wickets for a mere 15 runs in the subsequent 21 balls.
An unfortunate moment saw Phoenix captain Ellyse Perry run out at the non-striker’s end when a drive from Marie Kelly was deflected onto the stumps by Annabel Sutherland.
An unbroken 57-run partnership between Emily Arlott, who led the scoring with an unbeaten 32, and Sterre Kalis allowed Phoenix to reach a modest total of 116.
The Superchargers’ chase saw the early loss of Davina Perrin, who scored 14 off 19 balls.
Litchfield, in fine form, reached her half-century in just 25 balls and, together with Sutherland (20* off 13 balls), guided the Superchargers to a stylish victory.
This win propels the Superchargers to the top of the table with 12 points, level with London Spirit and Southern Brave, while the Phoenix remain near the bottom with four points.

Prior to this match, Litchfield’s tournament had been unremarkable, with scores of four, 22, and five in her first three innings.
However, on a favorable Headingley pitch, under clear skies, the 22-year-old Australian delivered a powerful batting performance, securing her second career fifty in The Hundred.
Litchfield displayed aggressive intent from the outset, combining intelligent shot selection with unorthodox stroke play.
A notable moment included a forceful reverse pull off Emma Lamb for four, followed by a more conventional chip shot over the top, also resulting in a boundary.
The arrival of compatriot Sutherland at the crease effectively sealed the outcome of the match.
Birmingham Phoenix’s fielding performance was marred by errors, with fumbles and misjudgments on the boundary proving costly.
The game was all but decided when Hannah Baker dropped a straightforward catch in the deep, squandering an opportunity to dismiss Litchfield on 49.
Litchfield sealed the victory in audacious style, initially shaping for a reverse pull against Millie Taylor before powerfully hitting the ball back over the bowler’s head for a boundary.
