A Member of Parliament accused of sexually assaulting two women at a private members’ club in London will face a trial delayed by nearly a year.
Patrick Spencer, 37, the MP for Central Suffolk and North Ipswich, is accused of assaulting two women at The Groucho Club in Soho on the same day in August 2023, prior to his election.
During a pre-trial hearing at Southwark Crown Court on Monday, he entered pleas of not guilty.
Judge Tony Baumgartner scheduled the trial, anticipated to last approximately one week, to commence on 13 July 2026. Mr. Spencer, a resident of Suffolk, was granted unconditional bail.
The charges against Mr. Spencer were filed in May.
The Conservative Party has withdrawn the party whip from Mr. Spencer, who now serves as an independent MP.
At an earlier hearing in magistrates’ court, a prosecution lawyer provided details regarding the allegations against Mr. Spencer.
Barrister Polly Dyer stated that the alleged offenses occurred on 12 August 2023 at The Groucho Club.
The court was informed that a complaint was lodged with the club, and the matter was subsequently reported to the police.
Mr. Spencer was interviewed by law enforcement officials earlier this year.
