Wigan Warriors Overpower Huddersfield Giants, Reclaim Women’s Super League Lead

Molly Jones’ hat-trick highlighted a dominant 13-try performance as Wigan defeated Huddersfield.

Wigan Warriors emphatically reclaimed the top spot in the Women’s Super League with a resounding 76-0 victory over the Huddersfield Giants, who currently sit fifth.

The Warriors, maintaining their unbeaten record, surged one point ahead of St Helens. St Helens remain the only team to have avoided defeat against Wigan this season, following their 22-22 draw two weeks prior.

Wigan established a commanding 32-0 lead by halftime, scoring six tries, including the first of centre Molly Jones’ eventual hat-trick.

Winger Anna Davies contributed two tries within a four-minute span during the second half, followed by two successive tries from Jones later in the game, as Wigan added seven more tries to their tally.

This victory surpassed their previous 58-0 win against the Giants in their initial encounter a month earlier.

In other league action, York Valkyrie solidified their third-place position with a 28-4 home win against the sixth-placed Leigh Leopards.

Tries from Evie Sexton, Georgie Dagger, and Tamzin Renouf gave York a 16-4 lead at halftime, before Eboni Partington and Agnes Wood added further tries in the second half.

Barrow Raiders emerged victorious in their clash against Warrington Wolves, winning 52-10 in Cumbria.

The win marked Barrow’s second of the season, with the first also against Warrington last month, keeping them second-from-bottom in the league, four points ahead of their winless opponents.
