Pogba’s Monaco Transfer Imminent

Paul Pogba’s last competitive match for Juventus was in September 2023.

Paul Pogba is poised to finalize his transfer to Monaco this week, marking his return to professional football after a doping ban.

BBC Sport reported earlier this month that the French midfielder was in advanced negotiations for a two-year contract with the Ligue 1 club.

Sources close to the deal confirm an agreement is in place. Pogba is expected to travel from his temporary residence in the United States to his native France in the coming days for a medical examination before signing.

The former Manchester United and Juventus midfielder was initially provisionally suspended following a random drugs test after Juventus’ opening 2023-24 Serie A game against Udinese.

The World Cup winner subsequently received a four-year ban, which was reduced to 18 months on appeal in October.

He has been eligible to resume his career since March after mutually agreeing to terminate his contract with Juventus.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ruling confirmed Pogba unintentionally ingested DHEA, a testosterone-boosting substance prohibited by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

Significantly, the CAS ruling emphasized that DHEA only affects females.
