Lauren Henry, MBE, added another accolade to her impressive resume with a gold medal performance at the World Rowing Cup in Varese, Italy.
The Olympic champion secured a commanding victory in the women’s single sculls, finishing over eight seconds ahead of her competitors.
Henry’s performance showcased her strength and prowess, leaving Germany’s Juliane Faralisch and China’s Ruiqi Li to claim silver and bronze, respectively.
“I’m really pleased with the race,” the 23-year-old reflected, acknowledging areas for continued improvement while expressing confidence in her potential.
“I kept it lively, there are some aspects I want to refine to see how I can push further, but there’s definitely more to come,” she added.
She noted the physical demands of the single sculls event, emphasizing the need for composure and strategic pacing.
Henry’s triumph contributed to a successful day for Great Britain, with victories also achieved by the men’s and women’s eights teams. The men’s quadruple sculls team secured a bronze medal.
This strong showing secured Great Britain second place in the overall medal table, with three golds and two bronze medals, trailing only the Netherlands.
