Zelenskyy and Tokayev Hold Phone Conversation

At the initiative of the Ukrainian side, a telephone conversation took place between Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

According to reports from Akorda, the President of Kazakhstan noted that the Kazakh people hold the Ukrainian people, their history, culture, and language in sincere respect.

“He reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s unconditional interest in establishing lasting peace in Ukraine based on the principles of international law,” the statement said.

In particular, Tokayev reiterated that Astana has consistently advocated for a joint search for a peace formula on a just basis, consistently speaking in favor of observing the UN Charter, the inviolability of the borders of sovereign states, and their territorial integrity.

“According to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, in the current extremely difficult situation, it is important to approach the resolution of the conflict in a balanced and rational manner, ensuring the preservation and protection of Ukrainian statehood. He believes that all parties should act according to the ancient wisdom ‘a bad peace is better than a good quarrel,'” the presidential press service reported.

The Head of State emphasized that he fully understands the complexity of the territorial problem. He stressed that it is the most difficult issue in international relations, often becoming an insurmountable obstacle to reaching an agreement on peace or even a truce. However, the main priority now is to preserve Ukrainian statehood based on inviolable international security guarantees for Ukraine.

It was also noted that Kazakhstan intends to continue active cooperation with Ukraine in various areas of mutual interest.
