A 28-year-old citizen of Uzbekistan died after falling from a roof in St. Petersburg, Russia. The St. Petersburg Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case.
On May 23rd, the Uzbekistani national, working on the roof of a multi-story building on Kolomenskaya Street, fell from a significant height. He landed on a car, sustaining severe head and spinal injuries that resulted in his death.
The deceased was employed by the company “Inzhenerik” and was engaged in roofing work. According to the investigation, he improperly secured his safety harness, leading to the fall from the five-story residential building. His body was sent for forensic examination.
The Investigative Committee has launched a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 216 of the Russian Criminal Code (violation of safety regulations during construction or other work, resulting in the accidental death of a person).
It has been noted that the Uzbekistani citizen was involved in the work without the necessary safety equipment—an anchor line and a safety harness. A full investigation into the circumstances of the incident is underway.
