Uzbekistan witnessed a substantial increase in meat imports during the first six months of this year, with volumes exceeding 122 million tons. This figure represents a significant rise compared to the 75 million tons imported during the same period last year, according to a report from the State Customs Committee.
Between January and June, the total value of meat products imported into Uzbekistan reached $338.8 million. This marks a notable increase from the $193.7 million recorded in the corresponding period of 2024.
Beef imports accounted for a significant portion of this increase, with 66 million tons purchased from abroad at a cost of $266.9 million. This translates to an average price of $4.04 per kilogram. In comparison, 35.2 million tons of beef were imported during the same period last year, amounting to $139.3 million.
The data also reveals that 27.3 million tons of chicken meat were imported at a value of $31.83 million. Additionally, 15 million tons of edible meat offal (internal organs and other consumable parts of livestock carcasses) were imported, totaling $15.74 million. Imports of mutton reached 11.1 million tons, valued at $14 million.
The Customs Committee’s data further indicates that meat imports in June alone amounted to $70.6 million, with beef accounting for $52.9 million of this total.
