Uzbekistan Extradites Interpol-Wanted Citizen from Lithuania

A citizen wanted through Interpol channels has been extradited to Uzbekistan from Lithuania, according to a report from the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Accompanied by officers from the Interpol NCB (National Central Bureau) Tashkent, a citizen accused of committing fraud, as defined by Article 168 of the Criminal Code, was extradited from Lithuania to Uzbekistan. The Uzbek citizen was placed on the international wanted list based on provided materials.

Through the utilization of Interpol channels, it was determined that the wanted individual was located in Lithuania, where they were detained and placed in custody pending extradition proceedings.

Following the approval of a request from the General Prosecutor’s Office of Uzbekistan, the Lithuanian side made the decision to extradite the suspect and hand them over to face punishment for the committed crime.

At Islam Karimov Tashkent International Airport, the wanted individual was handed over to law enforcement officials of the republic by representatives of Interpol NCB in Uzbekistan.

Notably, this marks the first instance of collaboration in the extradition process between the National Central Bureaus of Interpol in Tashkent and Vilnius, paving the way for further expansion and strengthening of cooperation between the countries in the fight against international crime.
