Uzbekistan Evacuates Nearly 60 Citizens from Iran via Turkmenistan

Approximately 60 Uzbekistani citizens have been evacuated from Iran via Turkmenistan. This was reported by the Dunyo Information Agency.

“Due to the complex situation in the Middle East, several countries, including Uzbekistan, are taking active measures to ensure the safe return of their citizens,” the statement reads.

Turkmenistan has provided its territory for transit purposes and is actively participating and making a significant contribution to the provision of international humanitarian assistance. Favorable conditions have been created at border crossings, railway stations, and airports, ensuring swift and safe evacuation.

Following instructions from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, 24/7 operational headquarters have been established in the country’s diplomatic missions in Tehran and Ashgabat. Comprehensive measures are being implemented to return Uzbekistani citizens from Iran via Turkmenistan.

The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Tehran maintains constant communication and coordination to ensure the safe passage of its citizens.

The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Ashgabat, in cooperation with Turkmenistani officials, effectively organizes the process of meeting citizens at the border, resolving visa and transportation issues, and facilitating their return home.

To date, approximately 60 Uzbekistani citizens have been returned from Iran to Uzbekistan via Turkmenistan.

“These measures once again confirm the priority of protecting the interests of citizens in the foreign policy of New Uzbekistan, and also demonstrate the close good-neighborly relations and solidarity between the countries of the region,” the statement reads.
