The President signed a law amending several legislative acts, the Ministry of Justice reports.
The amendment to the Criminal Procedure Code establishes that a suspect, accused, or defendant may exercise their right to remain silent at any time.
Furthermore, it stipulates that a person cannot be found guilty or punished if their confession is the sole evidence against them.
Amendments to the Law “On Courts” establish that judges are not accountable for specific cases.
However, it is also enshrined that the removal of a judge from a specific case, suspension of their powers, or transfer to another position is permissible only in the manner and on the grounds provided by law.
This law enters into force upon its official publication.
