On June 30th, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced the commencement of development for a national artificial intelligence model, designed to reflect the values and culture of Uzbekistan.
According to the President’s press service, this initiative aims to harmonize Uzbekistan’s rich history with contemporary approaches and foster new creative ideas among the youth.
To ensure the successful implementation of this system, the “One Million AI Leaders” program is being launched in collaboration with the United Arab Emirates. Starting this year, at least 100,000 young individuals will receive training in artificial intelligence technologies through the AI Study platform.
It was noted that there are currently 19,500 computer science teachers in the country’s schools. The Ministry of Preschool and School Education will update its curricula based on the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s artificial intelligence education program. This year, 100 computer science teachers from each region will undergo training in this program at the University of New Uzbekistan. These mentor teachers will then train the remaining computer science teachers in their respective regions over two years, using a cascade training model.
Consequently, within five years, all school graduates will possess sufficient knowledge in artificial intelligence.
