A citizen of Uzbekistan, S.I., a native of Bukhara region, contacted the Uzbek Embassy in Oman seeking assistance in returning to her homeland with her two minor children, reports the Dunyo Information Agency.
In her statement, S.I. explained that since 2019, she has resided in the Omani city of Al-Buraymi, legally married to an Iranian man lacking citizenship in any country.
S.I. gave birth to a daughter in 2020 and a son in 2022, but due to document-related issues, she couldn’t obtain birth certificates for her children in a timely manner.
S.I.’s husband developed a drug addiction and frequently abused her and the children. He confined her to their home.
S.I. stated her inability to leave for Uzbekistan with her children due to the lack of their birth certificates. She requested assistance in securing her release and obtaining the necessary documents for her return to Uzbekistan.
Embassy staff visited S.I.’s residence in Al-Buraymi, brought her and her children to Muscat, and temporarily housed them with a fellow Uzbek citizen.
Diplomats engaged with relevant Omani authorities, resulting in the issuance of birth certificates and repatriation documents for S.I.’s children. With the aid of the “Vatandoshlar” Public Fund, the Migration Agency of Uzbekistan, and a compatriot in Muscat, air tickets to Uzbekistan were secured for the family.
On June 18th, the woman and her two children returned to Uzbekistan.
