A court in Uzbekistan has sentenced an obstetrician-gynecologist for the death of a 19-year-old pregnant woman and her unborn child in the Buka district of Tashkent region. This was reported by the Millar program.
The incident occurred in November 2024. Relatives of the deceased claimed an administered injection caused the woman’s death.
Court documents cite anaphylactic shock and acute cardio-respiratory failure, resulting from an allergic reaction to the medication, as the cause of death. The patient, it was determined, had not undergone a complete examination before receiving the injection.
The trial took place in the Buka District Criminal Court. The defendant was found guilty under Article 116, Part 4, Clause “b” of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan (improper performance of professional duties). She received a sentence of four years and six months of restricted freedom, along with a three-year ban from practicing medicine within the healthcare system.
