Unemployment Benefits to Increase in Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan is increasing the unemployment benefit and clarifying the conditions for receiving it, according to a presidential decree signed on August 4th. Details can be found in the official announcement.

The decree stipulates that, starting November 1, 2025, unemployment benefits in Uzbekistan will be paid only to citizens whose employment contracts have been terminated. To qualify, individuals must have worked at least 18 months within the last five years and have had their employment contract terminated. They must also apply for the benefit within six months of termination. If eligible, they will receive unemployment benefits for three months, calculated based on their average earnings over the previous 18 months.

Under the new system, benefits will be disbursed as follows:

For subsequent benefit claims, an additional work history of at least 12 months after the prior benefit period is required.

Benefit payments will cease from the first day of the following month if the recipient, without valid reason, fails to attend a job interview arranged by employment agencies or refuses a suitable job offer.
