On June 18, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the construction progress at Tashkent East International Airport, as reported by the presidential press service.
As the nation steadily develops and its international standing improves, foreign economic ties and investment flows are intensifying. This necessitates prioritizing the modernization of Uzbekistan’s transport infrastructure, a key driver of further growth.
The reconstruction of Tashkent East International Airport is one such strategic project.
It aims to provide rapid, safe, and comfortable air travel that meets high international standards, while also easing the burden on the capital’s main international airport.
Phase one involved a complete upgrade of the 4-kilometer runway, enabling the airport to accommodate all aircraft classes, including the heaviest.
Construction is currently underway on two terminals—one for official delegations and business aviation, and another for aprons and hangar facilities.
The airport will feature state-of-the-art radio-technical and meteorological equipment meeting ICAO Category III-A standards, ensuring reliable take-off and landing operations even in adverse weather conditions.
Enclosed hangars provide the necessary conditions for safe and high-quality aircraft maintenance and storage.
Its advantageous location will make the new airport a vital transport hub for Tashkent and New Tashkent, further stimulating tourism in the Tashkent region. Critically, it will enhance international visit and business travel capabilities, improving conditions for foreign investors. This will boost economic activity, invigorate the service sector, create jobs, and significantly increase the country’s investment attractiveness.
The President reviewed the project’s technical specifications and terminal designs, issuing specific instructions to accelerate construction and enhance service quality.
