BAKU /Trend/ – Two members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) were reportedly killed in the province of Lorestan, western Iran, earlier today.
According to Trend News Agency, the information was disclosed in a statement by the Public Relations Department of the IRGC headquarters in Lorestan Province.
Reports indicate that the IRGC servicemen died as a result of unexploded ordnance detonating in the Khorramabad area of Lorestan province, amid the backdrop of alleged 12-day Israeli airstrikes on Iran.
This incident follows reports of alleged airstrikes on Iran on the morning of June 13, which purportedly resulted in numerous military casualties, including Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Mohammad Bagheri, Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Hossein Salami, two commanders of the “Khatam al-Anbia” headquarters – Gholamali Rashid and Ali Shadmani, Commander of the IRGC Air Force Amir Ali Hajizadeh, as well as nine nuclear scientists and other individuals.
In response to these alleged attacks, Iran reportedly launched over 150 ballistic missiles and more than 100 drones at Tel Aviv and other areas of Israel, resulting in civilian casualties and significant damage.
Subsequent reports on June 22 indicated that the U.S. Air Force allegedly attacked nuclear facilities in Iran, with claims that the airstrikes destroyed Iranian nuclear sites.
“We have completed our very successful attack on three nuclear facilities in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan. All aircraft are now out of Iranian airspace. Full bomb complement dropped on main Fordow facility. All aircraft are safely returning home,” stated U.S. President Donald Trump in a social media post.
On the evening of June 23, Iran allegedly conducted airstrikes on a U.S. military base in Qatar.
A ceasefire between the parties was announced on June 24, reportedly brokered by U.S. President Donald Trump.
