Trump Victorious at German Masters, Ending Title Drought

The triumph marks Trump’s 31st career ranking event victory.

Judd Trump, the world’s top-ranked player, secured his first title since the UK Championship in November 2024, defeating Shaun Murphy 10-4 in the German Masters final held in Berlin.

This win establishes a new record, making it Trump’s fourth German Masters title, adding to his previous victories in 2020, 2021, and 2024.

Trump, aged 36, initiated the match strongly, winning the first two frames with breaks of 101 and 71. Murphy responded, leveling the score at 2-2, before Trump regained control to lead 5-3 at the mid-session interval.

Murphy, a former world champion, aimed to claim the Brandon Parker Trophy, named in honor of his late friend and manager, who played a pivotal role in promoting the Berlin tournament before his passing from cancer in 2020.

He commenced the evening session purposefully, achieving a break of 60 in the ninth frame, positioning himself favorably. However, Trump returned to the table, clearing it and initiating a sequence of four consecutive frames, bringing him closer to victory.

Despite Murphy offering a glimmer of hope by recovering from a 51-point deficit to secure frame 13 on the black, Trump ultimately sealed the win in the subsequent frame.
