Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev demonstrated his martial arts prowess by breaking a wooden board after being awarded a ninth-degree black belt by World Taekwondo (WT) President Chungwon Choue. The event was reported by the Kazakh presidential press service.
The ceremony took place during a meeting between President Tokayev and WT President Chungwon Choue.
President Tokayev emphasized that taekwondo is not only an Olympic sport but also a philosophy rooted in harmony, discipline, and mutual respect, uniting millions worldwide.
Chungwon Choue expressed his gratitude to the President for his warm reception and unwavering support for the development of taekwondo in Kazakhstan.
He praised the organizational level of the upcoming Kazakhstan Open 2025 international ranking tournament (G1 category) to be held in Astana, the growing interest in the sport within the country, and the success of Kazakh athletes on the international stage.
President Tokayev awarded Chungwon Choue the Order of “Dostyk” (Friendship) II degree for his significant contribution to the development of taekwondo globally.
Following the presentation of the ninth-degree black belt, President Tokayev signed a wooden board and broke it with a single strike.
Notably, the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, also holds a ninth-degree black belt in taekwondo.
