Kieran Tierney earned his 50th Scotland cap on Friday against Iceland.
Celtic have secured the return of defender Kieran Tierney on a five-year contract, following his departure from Arsenal.
The 28-year-old left-back transferred from Glasgow to Arsenal in 2019 for £25m, accumulating 144 appearances and scoring six goals, including one in his final match.
Before his move to Arsenal, Tierney played 170 times for Celtic, scoring eight goals. He also made 26 appearances on loan at Real Sociedad. His international career includes 50 caps for Scotland and one goal.
“My ambition is simply to contribute to Celtic’s continued success, maintaining our top position, winning trophies, and performing well for the club,” he stated on the club website.

“It’s been known for months, and to be back in the Celtic jersey feels incredible.”
“Moving away from home allowed me to mature and gain new experiences. My year in Spain, learning a new language and playing in a different league, has shaped me significantly.”
“As a player, my focus remains the same – to work tirelessly and give my all for the club. That’s all I can do.”
After falling out of favor under Mikel Arteta due to injury and a lack of consistent playing time, Tierney’s 20 appearances this season saw him primarily feature as a substitute.
Tierney’s return to Celtic Park, while under contract with Arsenal, was confirmed in February.
This season, Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic secured the Scottish Premiership and League Cup titles, reaching the Champions League knockout stages.
Manager Brendan Rodgers commented: “He’s a supremely talented, high-quality player, and a major asset to our squad.”
“We are thrilled to welcome such an exceptional player back to the club, and I look forward to working with him and the team as we tackle upcoming challenges domestically and in Europe.”
Tierney’s arrival coincides with uncertainty surrounding fellow Scotland left-back Greg Taylor, whose contract expires this summer.

This is a perfect move for both the club and Kieran. He’s far from the end of his career, with much more to achieve. He’ll undoubtedly be eager to win trophies and prove his ability.
It’s arguably Celtic’s best signing. Brendan previously got the best out of him and understands him well. Kieran could even potentially captain Celtic in the future.
