Grocery shopping is a routine task for most, but in 1975, the BBC’s *Nationwide* explored an alternative approach. The program followed a couple who opted for a single annual grocery run instead of weekly visits. By renting a van and enlisting the aid of supermarket personnel to manage their multiple overflowing trolleys, the couple believed their £122 yearly investment would yield savings by preempting potential price increases due to inflation.
