Strictly Stars Prepare for Musicals Week Amidst Finals Countdown

With only two weeks remaining until the Strictly Come Dancing 2025 final, the competition is intensifying on the ballroom floor.

This Saturday marks the return of Musicals Week, featuring iconic songs from productions like The Phantom of the Opera and Guys and Dolls.

Adding to the excitement, the show will open with a new collaborative “dance relay” performance involving all the remaining couples.

Musicals Week will also feature special appearances, including Paddington Bear and members of the West End hit show Titanique.

Last Saturday, Lewis and Katya achieved a milestone, winning the first-ever Instant Dance challenge.

Prior to the challenge, Karen and Amber both attained perfect scores of 40, marking Karen’s first of the season.

George and Alexis continued their strong performance, with judge Craig Revel Horwood praising their Quickstep as “a joy to watch.”

However, Alex and Johannes faced challenges, receiving lower scores for their Cha Cha Cha.

The bottom two couples facing the dance-off on Sunday were Balvinder Sopal and Alex Kingston.

Ultimately, the judges chose to save Balvinder, resulting in Alex’s departure from the competition.

This season of Strictly has introduced several novel challenges, reshaping the show’s format.

Building on the excitement of last week’s Instant Dance challenge, a “dance relay” is set to debut at the start of Saturday’s show.

This five-minute sequence will feature each pair performing as part of a vibrant tribute to musicals.

Music from productions like My Fair Lady, Oliver!, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and Mary Poppins Returns will be showcased as the remaining contestants vie for viewers’ votes.

Musicals Week will also include a performance by the professional dancers of Cell Block Tango from Chicago, along with appearances by former Strictly contestant Tom Fletcher and Paddington Bear, who will make his debut on the show.

As the grand finale on December 20 approaches, the stakes are higher than ever.

The competition is increasingly unpredictable, and even a respectable score may not secure a spot in the top half of the leaderboard. With so few couples remaining, every performance counts.

On Sunday night, two more couples will face the pressure of the dance-off, and another will be eliminated.

Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturday at 18:50 on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
