A man who stalked singer Cheryl Tweedy has admitted to violating a restraining order after appearing at her residence once again.
Daniel Bannister, 50, entered a guilty plea to a single charge at Reading Magistrates’ Court. He has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to reappear in court on September 23.
Bannister has previously been imprisoned twice for targeting the Girls Aloud singer at her home in the Chalfonts area of Buckinghamshire, most recently receiving a 16-week sentence in March.
Tweedy stated at the time that she “immediately panicked” and “feared for my safety” upon seeing him on a security camera.
The court indicated that the charge against Bannister stemmed from his attendance at an address where he “reasonably believed or reasonably suspected” Tweedy resided.
He was initially issued a restraining order after arriving at her property in January of the previous year, stating “it’s Daniel, I’ve come to get Cheryl,” and then returning in July to request a glass of wine.
In September, he received a four-month jail sentence for these initial offenses.
Following his appearance in December, he admitted to harassment, breaching, and attempting to breach his restraining order, leading to a 16-week sentence in March.
The December incident occurred three weeks after Tweedy attended the funeral of One Direction star Liam Payne in Amersham, Buckinghamshire. Tweedy and Payne share a child but have since separated.
Payne passed away after falling from a balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in October.
In an unrelated case, Bannister had also been imprisoned for the manslaughter of Rajendra Patel, 48, at a YMCA homeless shelter in south London in 2012.
Mr. Patel died 15 days after being attacked in Croydon on February 21 of that year.
He died of a pulmonary thromboembolism in hospital, where he was being treated for bruising and swelling to the left side of his face, a broken nose, and a fractured ankle.
Bannister admitted to manslaughter and was sentenced to two and a half years in prison at Kingston Crown Court.
A 50-year-old man is sentenced after admitting harassment and breaching a restraining order.
A judge tells Daniel Bannister: “I am sure you have got better things to do than sit in prison.”
The group say the shows will celebrate former bandmate Sarah Harding, who died of cancer in 2021.
The former Girls Aloud singer takes over from presenter Laura Whitmore in “2:22 A Ghost Story”.
The former Girls Aloud star is “so excited” to be starring in the production at the Lyric Theatre.
