Spotify Wrapped 2025 has arrived, offering users a personalized recap of their music consumption over the past year.
The streaming platform revealed that Bad Bunny, the acclaimed Puerto Rican artist, topped the global charts with over 19.8 billion streams.
His celebrated album, Debí Tirar Más Fotos, a tribute to his island’s musical heritage, was also the year’s most popular album, positioning him for a Super Bowl halftime performance next year.
However, Bad Bunny didn’t break into the UK’s Top 10, where Taylor Swift reigned as the most-listened-to artist.
Spotify Wrapped became available to users on Wednesday at 13:00 GMT.
See below for a summary of the most streamed and searched songs of 2025 across Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and Shazam.
Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars secured the top spot globally with their collaborative track, Die With A Smile.
In the UK, Alex Warren’s Ordinary was the year’s most popular song.
Ordinary, which held the number one position for 13 weeks, was one of the few new releases to feature in Spotify’s UK Top 10.
Hits from previous years by artists such as Lola Young, Billie Eilish, and Gigi Perez maintained their popularity, dominating the charts and overshadowing newer artists.
Chappell Roan’s Pink Pony Club, originally released in 2020, was the fourth most-streamed song of 2025.
Sabrina Carpenter’s 2024 album Short’n’Sweet was the most listened to album in the UK, propelled by hit songs like Taste, Espresso and Please Please Please. However, her newest album Man’s Best Friend did not place in the top 10.
Year-end charts from Spotify’s competitors revealed a similar trend.
Rosé and Bruno Mars’ pop track APT, initially released in October 2024, was the top song on both YouTube and Apple Music.
YouTube users, however, showed a distinct interest in K-Pop Demon Hunters.
Four songs from the Netflix animation made it into the platform’s Top 10, with Huntr/x’s Golden leading the way at number three.
The soundtrack was also the second-most popular album globally on Spotify, followed by Billie Eilish’s Hit Me Hard and Soft.
Spotify Wrapped, which launched in 2016, has become increasingly popular each year.
It compiles users’ listening habits to determine their most-played songs, favorite artists, and top podcasts.
The results are shared within the app, encouraging users to share their top tracks on social media.
This year’s edition includes a bespoke film, showcasing accomplishments by British artists such as Lola Young (1 billion streams in 2025) and Central Cee (785 million streams of his debut album, Can’t Rush Greatness).
Spotify also creates leaderboards, identifying top fans of particular artists and even highlighting the “top 0.1 percent” of listeners.
Richard Whittle, Professor of artificial intelligence and public policy at the University of Salford, notes that “gamifying” user data can affect their music listening habits.
“Wrapped is an incredibly effective viral marketing tool that turns millions of users into enthusiastic promoters,” he states.
“Many users even adjust their habits throughout the year to engineer a ‘cooler’ Wrapped next time, which shows how powerful the feature has become.”
Rival streaming platforms, including Apple Music, Amazon Music, and YouTube, also release their versions of year-end summaries, compiling user data and generating personalized playlists of their favorite songs.

Emerging British singer-songwriter Samira’s latest single, Cardio, is designed to be a high-energy gym playlist staple.
Lily Allen was her top artist of the year. “I’ve been obsessed with her since I was young,” she told BBC News. “She is an icon.”
“Growing up in London as well, Lily’s music always felt relatable to me. I love how her new album, West End Girl, takes us on a journey and it feels like you’re watching a show.”
Tate McRae and Addison Rae were among her other most-played artists. “I have so much love for the pop girlies who really put their all into their performances,” she adds.
Beyond highlighting personal tastes, Spotify Wrapped offers artists like Samira (pictured above) valuable data based on their fans’ listening habits.
She was interested to learn that Valentine’s Day, a “confessional” song about being ghosted after a date, was her most popular track. “I love that the songs I wrote with the most personality in the lyrics are the ones that resonate best,” she notes.
She was also “really surprised” that the UK was only her third-largest market, after the US and Germany. “That’s really amazing to find out and it also helps guide us with our [gig] planning for next year.”
Sunderland rocker Tom A. Smith, who has previously supported Sir Elton John, examined his Spotify Wrapped and observed that “a lot of what I’ve been listening to this year has been inspiring a lot of what I’ve been writing.”
“Quite a bit of LCD Soundsystem and Soulwax,” he explained. “Bruce Springsteen has topped for the third year in a row though.”
Smith, who is set to portray a young Dave Stewart in an upcoming Eurythmics movie, prefers to rely on his gut feeling rather than data analysis when making music.
“As an artist that believes that the best way to express myself is to do what I think is right for me, musically I don’t really think the data is relevant,” he says.
“I do it for me and hopefully people will love it. But it is interesting to read.”
Meanwhile, singer Rose Gray, who released her debut album Louder, Please in January, discovered that she is the top artist from her management company.
However, the pop star noted that her own Spotify Wrapped is inaccurate because she shares her account with her 17-year-old brother.
“That’s my brother’s – dark ambient, drill, slow core, pop, emo, rap – sorry that’s not me,” she told BBC Newsbeat. “I love those genres, but that’s not me.”
The 28-year-old says that she knows who her top artists should be.
“Mine is Madonna, I think it’s Rosalía, Sega Bodega or something a bit old school – Zero 7 or Air. Probably Charli [XCX] is in there, and Shy Girl.”
