Spanish Town Engages in Flour, Egg, and Fireworks Battle

The annual ”Els Enfarinats” festival has once again transformed the Spanish town of Ibi into a battleground of flour and eggs.

Each year, participants don military-style attire to stage a mock coup, armed with eggs, flour, and firecrackers.

Participants demand “taxes” – charitable donations – from locals, with those who refuse risking a messy encounter.

The festival, rooted in the province of Alicante, boasts a history spanning over two centuries and is held annually on December 28th, coinciding with Spain’s Day of the Innocents.
