Alan Sheehan’s Swansea have secured victory in just four of their 14 league matches this season.
Alan Sheehan has affirmed his commitment to “find a solution” following Swansea City’s recent defeat at Preston North End on Wednesday, a result that extends their Championship winless streak to five matches.
Despite Swansea registering 18 attempts on goal compared to Preston’s four, they were ultimately defeated 2-1 by the high-flying Lilywhites.
Ineffectiveness in attack has been a recurring issue for Swansea this season, with Sheehan lamenting the dropped points at Preston, mirroring the frustrations experienced in last weekend’s draw at Charlton Athletic.
“The message is consistent. When we penetrate those areas, we need to exhibit greater composure and clinical execution,” stated the Swansea head coach.
“That is the defining factor between securing one point and potentially six. We have been competitive in every game this year, and many of our draws have felt akin to defeats.”
“It’s a disappointing outcome, but I am confident in finding a solution, and we will ultimately achieve our goals. I have no reservations about that.”
Adam Idah was among several Swansea players who were presented with opportunities during a frustrating evening at Preston.
Swansea conceded the opening goal to a remarkable strike from Thierry Small at Preston but subsequently dominated possession for extended periods of the match.
After squandering chances to equalize before halftime, Swansea conceded a second goal on a counter-attack early in the second half. Substitute Eom Jisung’s goal offered Sheehan’s team a glimmer of hope with 10 minutes remaining.
However, despite their efforts, Swansea lacked the necessary quality to secure an equalizer and suffered their third defeat in their last six league games.
Consequently, they find themselves six points adrift of the play-off positions in 17th place as they prepare for Saturday’s home match against Ipswich Town, their final fixture before the upcoming international break in 2025.

“I believe it has been a challenging period [since the October international break],” Sheehan added.
“We underperformed against Southampton. We played with 10 men for an hour against QPR. We secured a victory against Norwich, and in the last two games, we have faced teams currently in the top 10 and only managed to secure one point.
“Realistically, we should be earning significantly more points than that. I am extremely frustrated.”
Swansea received a boost with the return of Zan Vipotnik at Preston, who featured as a second-half substitute, but Marko Stamenic and Zeidane Inoussa were absent from the squad at Deepdale.
