The comprehensive program of events surrounding the state visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Azerbaijan has concluded, according to a report from the President’s press service.
On July 2, during his stay in Baku, the head of state held productive negotiations with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
The second meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council took place, addressing the further strengthening of Uzbek-Azerbaijani relations based on friendship, strategic partnership, and alliance, as well as prospects for expanding practical cooperation.
During the visit, a substantial package of bilateral documents covering various areas of cooperation was signed.
The leaders jointly laid the foundation for “Uzbekistan” Park, inaugurated a new building for the Uzbek Embassy in Baku, and toured the “Sea Breeze” resort complex.
Continuing the program on July 3, the Presidents of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan jointly inspected the Uzbek-Azerbaijani garment factory in the city of Khankendi, as well as the “Imaret” historical-architectural complex in Agdam.
On the final day, the head of state participated in the 17th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization, outlining partnership priorities and proposing a number of significant initiatives.
On the sidelines of the summit, bilateral meetings were held with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Acting Deputy Prime Minister of Afghanistan Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar.
Following the conclusion of the visit’s events, the head of state departed for Tashkent. At the Fuzuli International Airport, the President was seen off by Azerbaijani Minister of Culture Adil Kerimli and other officials.
