Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Visit Turkmenistan on Working Trip

At the invitation of Turkmenistan’s President Serdar Berdimuhamedow, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev will undertake a working visit to Turkmenistan on August 4-5. The purpose of the visit is to participate in the third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries. The President’s press service reports this.

The event, to be held in the “Avaza” National Tourist Zone, will be attended by UN Secretary-General António Guterres, heads of foreign states and governments, and leaders of international and regional organizations.

The Conference agenda includes pressing issues of international cooperation in strengthening transport interconnectivity and simplifying trade procedures, economic transformation, enhancing resilience to climate change and environmental challenges, and achieving progress in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. The adoption of the Avaza Political Declaration and a program of action is anticipated.

During his stay in Turkmenistan, the leader of Uzbekistan will also participate in an event dedicated to the preparation of the seventh Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and will hold a series of bilateral talks.
